On a side note, I think this compilation would have benefited from a few different song choices (the first several can be a bit of a chore to sit through when you know what's coming up).Two thumbs up from me. "Yesterday," "Hey Jude" and "Eleanor Rigby" are my definite favs, but the others sound great as well. What a great compilation. One of the best I've heard.
I guess they want to "modernize" the sound of these priceless recordings so every track is overly compressed, heavily EQ'ed, maxed in volume to virtual distortion, and so brittle and harsh sounding that the CD is barely listenable. "I Feel Fine" is completely ruined by the almost total removal of reverb from the lead guitar and vocals, though I've read that the original American releases all had more reverb than the English records.
Pepper" CD sounds so great, but the powers that be at EMI really need to rethink what a great remastering should be. I really had high hopes for hearing these songs with updated sound, especially since the "Sgt.
Can these mastering engineers do anything right. If you have the "Let It Be" CD for comparison you'll see what I mean.
These were engineered wonderfully in the first place, so in most cases "less is more" when it comes updating the Beatles catalog. There is almost no track on this CD that has been decently remastered.
Listen to the first guitar crashes in "Get Back," and see if you don't agree that it sounds distorted.
He is enjoying it very much. I bought this cd as a birthday present for one of my sons, as it had a song on it that was #1 the year of his birth.
It was terrible. Im still waiting.
Otherwise im sure the product is good. DO NOT BUY FROM MEDIMOPS.
I cant review this product because I never received it. I recieved one response saying they found another one and would send it out.
Its The Beatles, how could it not be good. I will review the expierence of buying from Medimops.
I ordered this item on May 7 and have emailed them twice asking whats taking so long.
Also, nothing from one of their early albums, 'With the Beatles.' That means, no 'All My Loving' or 'You Really Got A Hold On Me.' These are also disappointing omissions. The point is, it's virtually impossible to gather all of The Beatles' best songs on one disc. Overall, I strongly recommend '1' to the casual Beatles fan, the new Beatles fan, and for the hardcore fan just because of the slamming sound quality. It has been attempted many times, including on '1.' Now this is a good disc, I own it, and I have listened to it many times. There, you will collect many of their great songs that are missing in action here. Now, read on for my review for '1.'While each of these 27 songs are five stars easily, I don't really recommend this disc for anybody except for the new, casual or hardcore Beatles fan. In 2000, The Beatles released '1,' a single-disc, 27-track compilation spanning The Beatles' entire career, 1962 to 1970. Released on Apple in 2000, the record was digitally remastered, and before I begin my review, the sound quality on this disc is exceptional. First off, while everything here is superb, two of their finest albums go completely unrepresented.
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.' I could go on and on and on. But otherwise, I recommend '1962-1966' and '1967-1970,' both two disc sets, to get The Beatles best work. Spanning 'Love Me Do,' from 1962, to 'Let It Be' and 'The Long and Winding Road,' from 1970, this disc does cover every phase of the group's career. Get those instead.'1,' unfortunately, can be skipped. Pepper's' prevents this disc from getting five stars.Any Beatles compilation lacking tracks from those two albums is three stars at best. 'Rubber Soul' and 'Sgt. But, the omission of songs from 'Rubber Soul' and 'Sgt. It really is.
It's got many of the basics, on a positive note. No 'Michelle,' no 'In My Life,' no 'Drive My Car,' 'Norwegian Wood,' 'Sgt. Why, you may ask. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' are easily two of the finest records EVER MADE, and yet, there is NOTHING on this album from those albums.
